The Story Teller

The mayor was the most famous man in town. Anytime he passes by riding in is shiny maroon Land Cruiser, every body gives way and waves at the man presumably inside the famed vehicle.

One day, on the mayor’s way to a barrio, his Land Cruiser broke down. Anxious to be on his way, he ordered his driver-body guard to watch over the Land Cruiser and he would just take a ride on the first thing that will take him to the nearest barrio.

So, when an old and battered bus came along, he stopped it just like an ordinary passenger and got on. Incidentally, the bus was full. The mayor waited but no one offered him a seat or even greeted him, so he remained standing. Obviously, nobody realized that the fat old man wearing a neat shirt and a nice pair of pants was the revered mayor of the town.

Mr. Mayor kept silent and paid his fare. He was observing the other passengers when the bus swerved a little because of a bump on the road.The passengers cursed in unison. The conductor silenced them by saying..

‘Hey, blame the mayor, not the bus, he should have it fixed a long time ago instead of sitting in his shiny Land Cruiser and waving at people’s backs.’ 

The mayor stopped the bus, got off and walked all the way to the nearest barrio.
