Vacation!

Well, there’s only one place I would like to spend vacation, alone and with my family alike. That will be in our province in Nueva Ecija.

That place, for me, is the most relaxing in the world and that I would always want to stay there if I have a chance..

Maybe when I get old and in my retirement age already, I would go home there and spend the rest of my life crocheting some afghans and growing some roses, lol!

No so GLAMOROUS? Well, vacation, for me, is not about GLAMOUR, it’s about having the BEST TIMES of your life… eating a lot, sleeping a lot, laughing your heart out with old friends and not thinking about traffic, daily time record, deadline and monthly quotas..

The Fourth Sage

According to the bible there were three sages, Melchor, Gaspar and Balthazar, who found the baby Jesus, who was said to be the Messiah, by following a bright star.

Another story said, however, that there were four. One of them came late and was so sad when he found the three sages went along without him. But he was not disheartened. He decided to go and find the baby Jesus by himself. With him were treasures as his gifts to the baby, several camels, plenty of food and clothing.

He was so sure that he would find the baby. But wise as he was he didn’t find what he was looking for. He’d eaten up all his food, he sold his camels and even his treasures. He lived as a beggar but he didn’t stop. He kept on looking.

After more than 30 years, the fourth sage heard of a man who was called the Messiah. He went to find him right away. And he did find him. Only, the Messiah was nailed on the cross to die.

The sage ran towards the foot of the cross. He knelt down and lifted his face to the dying Messiah and said

‘Lord, I’ve come to find you, now that I did, I have nothing at all to give, so I give you my life..’

And the fourth sage died ..

The Visitor

Our Christian Living teacher in high school told us a story about a kind old man and his visitor.

There was once a kind old man who lived in a nice comfortable house in the woods surrounded by beautiful flower and vegetable garden. One night as the old man was about to sleep, somebody knocked on the door. He opened the door and came face to face with a stranger. Without second thoughts, he let the stranger in.

He fed his visitor, gave him something comfortable to wear and led him to the best room in his house. He bid his visitor good night and went to sleep himself.

The following morning, the old man woke up and found his visitor gone without saying goodbye. The worse is that he took a beautiful antique candle stick with him. It used to be on the dining table where the stranger ate the previous night.

Our teacher asked us what we can say about the visitor. So, we answered, bad, selfish, greedy and other ugly words we could think of. Our teacher smiled and said that the visitor represents us, the people of the world while the kind old man represents the Lord. He fed us, clothed us, provided us with everything we need, but instead of thanking him we even use the Sabbath day which is meant for him for ourselves.

Our faces turned red with embarrassment as our teacher continued his lecture..

My Beloved Nueva Ecija

This is Nueva Ecija, my hometown..

It has always been my refuge, the place I want to go to when the world doesn’t seem to make sense to me. It’s as if by being there my troubles would go away, my problems will solve themselves and everything will turn out right, lol!

A lot of things have changed through the years, the houses that seemed big to me before aren’t as big to me now, the establishments that marked my childhood and adolescence are replaced by modern buildings. My childhood friends have children of their own just as I have..

But the feelings never changed. My feelings about this place have remained the same. I may be happy with my new home now in Caloocan but it will never be the same with how I feel in my hometown..

Adventure

’Adventure is worthwhile.’

-Amelia ‘The Lady Flyer’ Earhart

Don’t be afraid to try. Don’t be afraid to take risks. You’ll never know. Maybe the thing that you are trying to run away from could be the greatest adventure of your life..

The Purse

Dino and Lala have been together for a long time now. So, it was not at all surprising when Dino asked Lala for her hand in marriage.

For some reasons, Lala, a preschool teacher, feels that she’s not ready yet and that she still has something good to do before she settles down for good. Dino, a practical man, said that the world is really turning for the worse and there’s nothing Lala can do about it.

But Lala believes there’s still hope. So, they made a bet. Lala left a purse with a significant amount of money on a table in the park with her name and address in it. If whoever picks up the purse returns it to Lala with the same amount of money, Lala wins, but if the purse doesn’t find its way back to the owner, then, Dino wins and they’ll get married.

The couple hid a few meters from the table and saw an old man picked up the purse. From the expression on the man’s face, Lala was sure he’d return the purse.. but he didn’t.

The couple got married that year. After several months, Lala received a check amounting to what they put in the old purse. With it was a letter from the man who picked it up apologizing for not returning the money right away. He said he wanted to but that he was so hungry that time and bought some food first, and that he got sick after that and was not able to replace the money much more return it. So, he used the rest of the money and put up a fish ball stand. He worked hard and saved money to replace the content of the purse but it took him several months to come up with the entire amount and more. He thanked Lala for the money and wished her good luck..

Our Home

Home, for me, is the safest and most comfortable place in the world. And I would always want to stay home with my family.

I love waking up in the morning on my own bed, with the blanket twisted between my legs and with the pillows carelessly scattered around me. I love the smell of coffee and fried rice in our kitchen when we eat breakfast. I love to watch movies in our old DVD and hand-me-down television set, with me and my husband sitting on the couch and my children sprawled on the floor.

I love to sleep at night knowing that my loved ones are with me, and I am with them and that we are still together when we wake up.

Right now, however, with my husband overseas, the appeal of my house is less than it used to be. But with my children, it is still a warm, safe place full of love.

Home is where the heart is and this will ALWAYS be the place where I want to be with my LOVED ONES…

By the way, the picture was taken on September 23, during my youngest son’s 8th birthday, and… I did not eat all the cake, promise..

On Perspective

“Sometimes the right thing for one person is the wrong thing for someone else.”

-Chief Charlie Swan, Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

That is why we can’t tell another person that we know how he feels, just to make him feel better, because we never could. He feels what he feels and we feel what we feel, but how we or he sees and perceives things makes the difference..

So, what do you exactly see in the picture above?

The Hero of Haarlem

Peter is an ordinary Dutch boy. One night, on his way home, he heard a strange sound which he thought was coming from the dike. The dike holds the water so it won’t flood their town.

So, Peter got worried when he saw that what he heard was actually the sound of water leaking from the dike. He wanted to run and ask for help, but he was afraid that the leak might grow big when he leaves, turn into a bigger hole and that the entire dike will give away.

Peter, afraid as he already was, couldn’t let that happen. So, he plugged the hole with his finger and shouted as loud as he could, hoping that somehow, someone will hear him.

Nobody did.

So, Peter stayed the whole night, his finger stuck into the hole and his throat hoarse for too much shouting. He was almost faint when an old man passed by and saw him very early in the morning.

The old man helped Peter and told the whole town about the ordinary boy who did an extraordinary thing to save them all.

Jollibee Forever

Well.. I really don’t know but every time we go out, we always end up eating in Jollibee.

And since I work in the mall, it’s just a matter of punching out my time card and go directly to Jollibee where my kids normally are waiting for me. What more? No matter how many times we decide on what to eat, we always end up ordering chicken joy (for all of us), large fries for Daryl, chocolate sundae for the girls, peach mango pie for me, and extra gravy for Daryl and me. We love gravy! lol!

(Why is my plate dumped with chicken bones? The girls did it. They meant to show it to papa so he can tease me for overeating)
