The Flight of Icarus

Icarus is the son of master craftsman Daedalus. Both of them were exiled by King Minos because the latter helped Theseus defeat the minotaur.
In order to escape from their prison in Crete, Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings made of feathers and wax. But before they left, Daedalus warned his son not to fly too high as the sun will melt the wax which keeps the feathers together.
However, in his excitement to fly, Icarus forgot his father’s warning and flew as high as he could. It was late when he noticed that he had very few feathers left in his wings. He fell into the sea and drowned.

I remember learning about this story way back in grade school, I think. Parang similar sa moth story ni Jose Rizal ano?
Happy week ahead!
I love this ancient story…

Kumbaga sa manok ay inabot na ng taglogon kaya natanggalan ng balahibo..
At natawa ako sa comment nang first commenter. Manok talaga ang kinumper hehehe.
I am very much familiar with this piece of Greek mythology. There is a lesson to be learned here about people who want so much more in life and soar to heights they don’t know about. The result is their ignominious plummet back to earth. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
So, it’s his first and last flight…
