The Passerby
One day, a kind man was on top of a building. He looked down and saw a lot of passersby walking to and fro obviously in a hurry to go where they need to go. Then struck by an errant thought, he dropped a lovely red rose and it fell on the ground as an old lady was passing by. Totally surprised, the lady picked up the flower and happily went on her way.
The kind man was disappointed. The lady didn’t even look up to see where the fallen flower came from. So, he got a five hundred peso bill, rolled it and let it fall. It landed on an old man’s shoulder. The old man, filled with felicity for such luck picked up the bill and put it in his pocket.
More disappointed than ever, the kind man got a small piece of stone and dropped it where it fell on a young man’s head. The young man swore, looked up and cursed whoever dropped the stone on his head.
Why is it that we rarely acknowledge the beautiful things that come our way and where they came from, but are so much affected by adversity and pain? And why do we only ‘look up’ when we are hurt?

i asked myself the same kim. why? thanks for dropping by at my blog. cheers!
Oo nga no’ oftentimes we forgot to give thanks for the blessings , inaantay pa natin kalabitin tayo ni Lord para makaalala, and when God do that iba iba din naman ang nagiging response natin toward it.
Hehehe, that’s human nature. We take for granted all the good things and blessings we received in life forgetting to thank God for them but when things go wrong we blame God for it. That’s why Jesus has to save humanity from itself, hehehe. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
I guess it’s one of human common mistakes. I agree with Mel anyway…
in islam teaching and in everyday life everything we do we praise Allah before we do it…
