A Gift

I was looking for an old blazer yesterday so I went to the attic. I seldom go there because it’s too hot and dusty. As I was checking all the clothes hanging in the old cabinet, my leg bumped into something that might have been sitting there for about 8 months. It was one of those spa gift baskets that my aunt sent us last year.

I checked it out and found some items missing. I sighed. Surely, my cousin who used to help us here at home, got them and used them.  She left some, though. The bubble bath was still here, but geez, we don’t have a bath tub. No wonder she left it, they don’t have any bath tub either, lol!

Muhammad Ali, Champion Of The World and The Real ROCKY BALBOA

“Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee, his hands can’t hit what his eyes can’t see.”

Born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., he changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam. He was crowned ‘Sportsman of the Century’ by Sports Illustrated in 1999. Muhammad Ali, indeed, is one of the most popular people in the world. Out of 61 total fights, he won 56 times, 37 of which are knock-outs.

This mighty boxer, however, was knocked down by an underdog, ‘The Bayonne Bleeder’ Chuck Wepner in the 9th round of their match at the Cleveland Coliseum on March 24, 1975, but he still managed to win the game. That particular episode inspired one of the most famous boxing stories of all time, the ROCKY series played by veteran actor SYLVESTER STALLONE.

The Fence

Little Didi and Mr. Carlos are neighbors. Didi is a talkative girl of about 6 years of age while Mr. Carlos is a widower of about 60, quiet, stern and snob.

Mr. Carlos dislikes noise. He doesn’t like loud music, he doesn’t like loud voices, and he doesn’t like noisy little girls in their cute brightly colored outfits. So, one day, he set out to work with bricks. Little Didi saw Mr. Carlos and asked him what he was doing. The old man didn’t answer.

Every day, Mr. Carlos works. Every day Didi asks him what he is doing. And every day he doesn’t answer. After several days, Mr. Carlos’ work was almost halfway. And Didi thought that it looks like a fence, so she told the old man ‘It looks like you’re making a fence Mr. Carlos…’ the old man didn’t answer as usual. Then she said ‘It looks like a really nice fence..’ The old man stopped, thought for a while and continued working.

Every day Didi tells Mr. Carlos how nice his fence was. And not only that, she tells every one that passes by that Mr. Carlos was making a fence, and that it was a very nice fence. Soon, other people were talking about the beautiful fence Mr. Carlos was making. They even asked the old man if he needed any help. At this point, Mr. Carlos though still not talking, only smiles but continued working.

Until one day, to Didi’s surprise, the fence was finished. So, she told Mr. Carlos.. ‘That’s a nice fence you made Mr. Carlos. You really are a good fence-maker…’ Mr. Carlos said ‘Thank you, Didi..’

The following morning, Mr. Carlos was working again. Didi asked him what he was doing, so he answered.. ‘I am making  a gate for my fence…’

Didi asked.. ‘What is the gate for, Mr. Carlos?’

And the old man smiled and answered… ‘So you can get through when you come to visit me in my house..’

Mr. Carlos was a sad little man. He built a fence to keep the neighbors away. But as he was working, he found out how nice it was to see and listen to his neighbors. So, he built a gate so they can come…

GT: Build Me Up Buttercup

There are a lot of songs that make me feel good. But I chose to feature Build Me Up Buttercup for this week’s theme. Why? Because it was the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, There’s Something About Mary, lol!

Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down)and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

“I’ll be over at ten”, you told me time and again
But you’re late, I wait around and then (bah-dah-dah)
I run to the door, I can’t take any more
It’s not you, you let me down again

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time, and I’ll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I’ll be home
I’ll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

You were my toy but I could be the boy you adore
If you’d just let me know (bah-dah-dah)
Although you’re untrue, I’m attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time and I’ll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I’ll be home
I’ll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

I-I-I need you-oo-oo more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart

Number of Breaths

Oh My Files!

I was in a frenzy yesterday. I was about to print my materials for my Reading Class but the files wouldn’t open. I was in denial period for about 15 minutes, I kept on telling myself that this was not happening. It couldn’t be. My files, my precious files were corrupted. After trying to open the files, I sat in frustration and wished with all my heart that we had a data backup services.

What would I do now? I’ve been saving those files for 3 years and now what happened? I think it’s my fault. I should have been one step ahead. I should have known this could happen sooner or later. Well, maybe, I should charge it to experience..

On Telling the Truth

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
~ George Orwell (1903-1950) ~

An Innovation

Putting up a business is something. Maintaining a business is something else. I remember my father when we had this small time business in the province and he had to stay awake as late as he could doing the accounts and inventories. It was tedious.

Now,  imagine maintaining a business bigger that you could grasp. Surely, my father’s ruled columnar book is out of the question. In that case, what you need is an innovative system that will help you organize things or rather that will organize things for you, example of which would be inetsoft performance management software.

Running a business is only for the wise. It is not enough that you are diligent and persevering. It is also important that you have a reliable software for a partner, something that is easy to use and easy to deploy..

What You Are

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

-Dr. Seuss
