The Greedy Son and The Snake
One day, as the farmer was cleaning around his farm, he saw a big snake under a rock. He was terrified. What if the snake attack him and his family? What if the snake eat his little boy? So, the farmer went home in haste and got a bowl of milk. Maybe, if he give the snake some milk, it wouldn’t harm them. So, he left the bowl one meter from the rock and he went home.
The following morning, he went back to the rock and was surprised to find the bowl empty, and beside it were 2 gold nuggets. Surely, the snake liked his gift. So, the following week, he placed another bowl of milk beside the rock and went home. It bore the same result.
Several years had passed and the farmer kept leaving a bowl of milk beside the rock where the snake lives and get gold nuggets in return. He didn’t tell anyone about it for fear that other people might want the generous snake for their own. He kept the gold nuggets, lived as simply as before but more comfortably.
Then, one day, the farmer got so sick, he couldn’t even get up. So, when the day comes to leave a bowl of milk, he called his son, now a grown up man, and told him about his secret. He told him to leave a bowl of milk beside the rock, go home and come back for a surprise the following day.
The son did as he was told and was very surprised to find 2 gold nuggets when he returned the next day. He was consumed by greed. Surely, the snake living under the rock has more gold nuggets with it. So, he approached the rock, turned it over and chopped the snake’s body hoping to see more gold nuggets. There was none and all that’s left was a dead snake and an empty bowl of milk beside it..

Ay, sayang…
Thanks for always commenting on my Sunday posts, Kim.
The moral of the story is: Don’t be too greedy. Don’t kill delivery source…
Oi sayang, hinde nagmana ang anak sa pagiging kind nang ama. Hinde talaga 100% totoo ang kasabihang kung ano ang kahoy siya ang bunga, hehehe!!
Yes, there is a moral story here just like the story of the Goose That Lays The Golden Egg. Be satisfied with the blessings you receive. Greed always leads man to kill the golden opportunity for a bowlful of wisp. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
Avoid greediness!
