Real Treat
Words about my husband’s homecoming have already spread and I guess some relatives, mine and his, are looking forward to seeing him after two years. For some reasons, I find that idea really scary, lol! I have this strange feeling that these people think that my husband has something for each and every one of them. I sincerely hope I am wrong about that, because if I’m not, I think we better think of something to give to any one who would bother to come over. Well, I am actually considering things like pouch for women and opus x for men. But then again, isn’t pouch too impersonal and isn’t cigarette given away during christening of baby boys? Uuuggh! Why does it have to be this difficult?
Stress Reliever
For a working mother like myself, the only break I have is during my day off and the most convenient de-stressing activity is watching tv. So, I feel really irked when our tv set is acting up. It’s as if everybody conspired just to make my life miserable. Sometimes, I feel like screaming.. ‘hello.. home-girl here!’ as if the tv would understand that I don’t have any intention of going out to have fun, but would rather stay home, slouch on the couch the whole day and watch tv until my eyes swell..
But our tv set has been acting up lately and it’s starting to get on my nerves. So, maybe I have to get one of those indoor hdtv antennas before I lose my temper and hit the tv screen with the first heavy object I could put my hands on, lol!
The Graduation Gift*
A fine, intelligent young man was excited about his upcoming college graduation. More than the occasion, the young man was losing sleep over the beautiful sports car he saw in a dealer’s showroom several months back. Certain that his father could well afford it, he told him that that’s what he wanted for a graduation gift.
So, on the day of his graduation, the man shivered with anticipation as his father called him to his office and asked him to sit down. His father extended his congratulations and told him how proud he was to have such a fine, intelligent man for a son. He told him how much he loved him and handed him a beautifully wrapped gift box.
Disappointed but somehow curious, the man opened the box and found inside it a lovely leather-bound BIBLE. Deeply hurt and outraged, the man yelled at his father ‘With all the money you got, you give me a Bible?’ and stormed out of the room and never came back.
Several years passed and the young man became a successful businessman. He had a fine home and a wonderful family. Despite such, however, he missed his father, whom he did not see since his graduation from college, and wanted to visit him. But before he could make some arrangements, he received a message that his father died, left all of his wealth to him, and that he needed to come home immediately.
The man’s heart swelled with sadness when he arrived home. As he was sorting his father’s papers, he found the still new bible just as he had left it years ago. As he sadly leafed through the pages, a car key fell from an envelope taped behind the bible. With it was a tag with a car dealer, the date of his graduation and the words.. PAID IN FULL.
‘How many times did we miss God’s blessings because they were not packaged as we expected?’

GT: My Favorite Subject
Well, this is one easy topic.. My favorite subject since grade school is English (grammar, literature and writing). I graduated Best in English in grade school and though I received the Academic Excellence Award in high school, I appreciated my Best in English Award that came alongside it.
I loved all of my English subjects in college, Expository Writing, English Literature and Technical Writing. But since I majored in Psychology, I enjoyed my major subjects more, particularly Experimental Psychology, Projective Techniques and Psychodynamics.
In Graduate School, I took up Master of Arts major in School Administration and Supervision, I enjoyed Research and Methodology most of all. However, since I haven’t finished my MA yet, maybe I would also enjoy the remaining subjects, lol!

The Morning Bikers
Early this morning as I was rushing my way to work, I was somehow awed by the sight of a group of bikers on the highway. I was mesmerized by the way they swayed this way and that way between cars, jeepneys and even trucks. They were simply graceful. I’ve always thought biking is one of the best ways to stay in good shape. I learned to ride a bicycle when I was about 11 and I can say I really enjoyed it. How I wish I could do it again one of these days.
I watched the bikers until they were too small to be recognized. And just as I was about to brush them out of my mind, two SUV’s with hitch bike racks sped by the FX I was on. Well, these two could be companions of the bikers who just passed by. It seems like they are making the most of the remaining sunny days..
The Difference*
One morning as a little boy was walking along the beach at low tide. He saw thousands of small sea creatures washed up, stranded on the beach and doomed to perish. Patiently and lovingly, the boy picked up one at a time and threw it back to the water. As the boy went along with this gesture, a man saw him and grinned. After a couple of minutes, the man approached the boy as the boy bent over to pick one and said..
“I can see that you are being very kind trying to save these poor creatures..”
The boy looked up and said “Thank you, Sir..” and went back to what he was doing…
The man spoke again and said.. “.. but you see, there are thousands of them, it wont make any difference..”
The boy looked at the man, threw a piece into the water and answered.. “It will for that one…” picked up another and repeated the gesture.. “and for that.”

TCP: My Favorite Teacher
My favorite teacher in high school was my English teacher, MRS. NOLI CAMAYA.. First and foremost, she was so kind, though I later decided that the word that really described her was motherly. She was a very effective teacher that I understood all our lessons easily. She was also very decently and respectably dressed that she was, for me, the EPITOME of A GREAT TEACHER. There were also instances that she proved herself to be a good friend.
Though it took me several years before I finally realized that I wanted to be a teacher just like her, I know in my heart that it was she who inspired me to be one of them, EDUCATORS. Now that I am a teacher, myself, a TUTOR to be exact, I make sure that I am good in what I do, that at the end of each day, I go to sleep happily knowing that I made a difference in a student’s life just like my former teacher did to mine..
(NOTE: I just took this picture from her FB account, I hope she doesn’t mind my using it..)
