The Magnificent Mt. Rushmore
The Mt. Rushmore, originally Six Grandfathers, is a 60-ft granite sculpture of the heads of 4 former US presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, in Black Hills, South Dakota.
(The Six Grandfathers before the sculpture was started)
The construction was started in 1927 and might have been completed some time between 1934-1939. It was originally begun by the Danish artist and sculptor Gutzon Borglum but was finished by his son, Lincoln Borglum, upon the former’s death before the completion of the giant sculpture.
