Correct Usage

Every day is an adverb of time

Everyday is an adjective

Example: My everyday life is dull and boring.

And as per a certain blogger’s request, here is the difference between quiet and quite.

Quiet is an adjective which means silent and is the opposite of noisy

Quite is an adverb which means completely or entirely.

Example: You are quite mistaken.

The Millionaire

MS Badge

It was nearly the town fiesta and the townspeople are excited not only because of the celebration but also because of the mayor’s announcement. He said that a millionaire, a man of great wealth, is going to visit their town and might be encouraged to help whoever he finds worthy. The mayor said that the great man is willing to finance any endeavor the chosen man might pursue. He is willing to give capital to whoever has plans to make his life better.

Everybody was excited. All of them were thinking of ways on how to make himself worthy of the millionaire’s help. Some prepare food, others prepare music and even others prepare theatrics.

So, when a white, shiny limousine drove into town the day before the town fiesta, everybody got ready to meet the greet millionaire who has the power to change the life of anyone he chooses.

When the driver got off to open the door of the passenger seat, everyone held his breath then a series of ‘oohhss’ and ‘aahhhs’ followed as a man in fancy clothes stepped out of the magnificent vehicle. Only when the man greeted them ‘Good morning’ were the people able to utter words of welcome followed by invitations and other pleasant words.

The man was equally pleasant. He tasted every sort of food offered to him and visited every house who invited him in. The protective driver never leave his side nor did he utter a word. He just looked at the people and listened to their answers during the interview. The tour lasted almost a day and the sun was setting when the limousine drove towards the mayor’s house to spend the night.

The following day, the townspeople gathered around the plaza waiting for the announcement. When the mayor arrived, they were surprised to see alongside him the driver of the limousine dressed in clothes as fancy as those of the mayor’s. The two sat down the chairs provided for them on the stage.

When the program began, the mayor began his speech by greeting the townspeople a ‘Happy Fiesta!’ then introduced the guest of honor, the greet millionaire. The townspeople were confused that they couldn’t even clap.

The man stood and spoke. He greeted everyone a ‘Happy Fiesta’ and thanked the mayor for his invitation. He regretted, however, to announce that he didn’t find anyone whom he could finance. He found, though, about five families whose children he might award scholarship. One of the five families greeted him ‘Good morning,’ one offered him a seat, one offered him a drink, one bid him ‘Good bye’ and the last one waved at him as he was leaving the house, the day before.

The mayor thanked the man wholeheartedly and congratulated the five families the great man had chosen.

Gold Bullion on Christmas

Whether we like it or not, Christmas is really around the corner. Just two days ago, we were asked for the list of what we want to get in our traditional exchange gift. As usual, I wrote down two titles of books I want to add to my collection. These are the books I am too lazy to buy for myself. Then, I found another collectors’ item from the net which is absolutely cool. Collector or not, any one would be thrilled to have gold bullion on Christmas.

Christmas is the time of giving. Though I know it’s the thought that always counts, I believe it’s not absolutely wrong to wish and expect to get something that you really really want. After all, Christmas is also the season of perpetual hope. Advance Happy Christmas every one!

Couldn’t Stop Writing

When I put up this blog, what I had in mind was a blog filled with various stories. I love reading stories as much as I love writing them. I started posting  stories I heard and read when I was young. Then, I started reading stories online then share them on this blog. Eventually, I started to write my own stories. Some are good. Some are not so good. And even some are not good at all. But I never stop. I couldn’t stop. I don’t know where this passion would take me. All I know is that there is a need for me to write what I have in mind.

Maybe some day when I already have a large collection of stories, I would have the courage to have them printed and published. But at the moment, I would just enjoy writing and hope that other people would enjoy reading what I wrote. :D
